Last Day to Pre-order the Clean Mama DAILY Planner + a Video

Just popping in to remind you that today is the LAST DAY to pre-order the Clean Mama DAILY Planner at a discount….so if you were thinking about it, grab it today 🙂

This blog post shows how I set up my Clean Mama DAILY Planner.  I also added a video to my YouTube channel – head over there and follow along – more cleaning videos coming soon 🙂

How I set up My DAILY Planner

Last week I released my brand new DAILY planner – did you hear the news (here’s the announcement)? I am so excited for this tool and thought I’d share a couple tips and tricks for how I’m using it myself with the hope that it will help you too! If you’re using a different planner, my tips can still help you get it set up 🙂  Like a video format?  I shared a video on my YouTube channel here.

Let’s get started…..

First things first, think a little bit about how you want your planner to look – this is a tool that you’ll be using for a year so it’s important to put a little thought into it first.  Do you want to use color?  Black + white?  Choose a writing implement or two and a small stack of sticky notes and/or a notepad get started.

Here are my must-have planner tools:

  • pens
  • colored pencils
  • paper clips
  • large bulldog clip
  • sticky notes
  • notepads
  • stickers
  • eraser

Start by filling out the month you’re starting with and as many other months you’d like to start with – I recommend filling in months as you need them.

The Clean Mama DAILY Planner includes 2018 and 2019 at-a-glance and holiday calendars perfect for referring to as you’re setting up the year.

Put the DAILY planner where you’ll use it.  I keep mine in my office on my desk open to the current day and then at the end of my work day I turn it to the next day.

Choose a time of day to fill it out for the day ahead.  You might want to fill it out the evening before or in the morning or maybe a little bit all day long 🙂

I start with the TOP 3 TASKS and frame my day around that.  These are the three things that I need to get done.  It might be work related, family related, or home related – these are the must-dos.

PRODUCTIVITY TIP: On days where I have a lot going on or I feel overwhelmed, or in preparation for the weekend/week ahead, I’ll do a little brain dump and write down all the things that are swirling around in my head.  Then I prioritize them and put them into the next day.  If they’re on paper and one of my TOP 3, I know I’ll get them done.

When using other planners I have always struggled with 4 things:

  • not enough space to write
  • time slots that made me feel constricted
  • feeling like the planner was lost when I didn’t keep up with the pre-printed days, weeks, and/or months
  • the prompts were irrelevant or non-existent

I set out to create a planner that was different and encourages just the right amount of productivity in a beautiful and simple way.  I love having a spot for all those little things that I think about during the day in my planner.  Money, homekeeping, menu planning, errands, health – these categories all have a spot to jot down a reminder or a whole list.

Here are a few little things I do that help me keep things organized.

  • I use a paper clip on the current day and move it as I go.
  • I use a little color coding with colored pencils to keep things together.
  • I separate work and home.  By keeping these two things separate, I find that I get more done in each category per day.
  • I keep receipts, stamps, stickers, and notes in the back pocket so they’re handy.

It’s here! The Clean Mama DAILY Planner

Introducing….The Clean Mama DAILY Planner!

This undated, flexible planner has been in the making for years and finally it’s available for you (and me) today! It’s the perfect combination of keeping track of those daily to-dos with just the right amount of flexibility for you to make it yours and to make it work for your schedule.

Traditional planners haven’t worked for me the way that I anticipated because well, life happens.  Plans change, days fly by without a glimpse of a planner page or a chair to sit down in and I just found that if a planner was going to work for me it needed to take a few more things into consideration.

I find that putting a plan in place for my days helps me stay organized. A simple organizational step is just to map out your priorities so you make time to get things done.

I’m really excited to share this tool from the Clean Mama Home paper line that can help you get your priorities on paper and accomplished: the Clean Mama DAILY Planner.

The Clean Mama DAILY Planner (2018-2019) is a simple, undated planner for keeping track of the everyday without the added overwhelm of a typical planner.  This unique, intuitive approach is designed to help you plan your day with ease and calm, ready for whatever life throws your way.
The Clean Mama DAILY Planner is the perfect way to organize your thoughts and ideas on paper in a simpler way.  Start any day, any month, and work through your day with less effort and get more done!
+ everyday a little something +

Here are a couple of my favorite features:

  • simple soft gray and Clean Mama aqua color scheme – perfect for adding you personal style and details
  • 160# card stock front and back covers with clear protective cover and subtle, clear binding
  • 12-tabbed monthly divider pages (thoughts+goals) with grids and blank aqua tabs
  • aqua back pocket perfect for storing receipts, stickers, important papers
  • smooth, bright white 70# paper
  • paper size is 8 1/8”x10 1/8”
  • planner dimensions with the binding are 10”x10”x1.5″
  • made in the USA

If you’re wondering how or if the Clean Mama DAILY PLANNER works with the Homekeeping and Menu Planners, they were designed to work together or separately.  The Homkeeeping and Menu Planners are in a smaller, weekly format whereas the Daily Planner is set up as a daily planner.  All of my planners are designed to be started any day of the week and any month of the year.  No pressure, no stress, no overwhelm – just calm knowing that you are keeping track of the mundane daily tasks in a simple and straightforward way. THE CLEAN MAMA DAILY PLANNER includes:

  • TITLE PAGE – 3 lines for you to personalize your planner
  • COVER PAGE
  • 2018 YEAR AT A GLANCE
  • 2018 HOLIDAYS
  • 2019 YEAR AT A GLANCE
  • 2019 HOLIDAYS
  • 12 – 2 PAGE BLANK CALENDARS – the perfect 2 page monthly calendar complete with a darling to do list on the right side
  • 31 DAILY planning pages in EACH month – date, goals, menu, homekeeping, errands, TODAY, health, money, today is…, and TOP 3 TASKS
  • 12 blank mini grid pages – one at the end of each month
  • 12 mini grid thoughts + goals pages – one at the beginning of each month
  • 214 two-sided pages // 428 pages total + 12 two-sided tabbed dividers

Each month has 31 DAILY planning pages – with plenty of space to write down the date, goals, menu, homekeeping, errands, TODAY, health, money, today is…, and TOP 3 TASKS.  I start by filling in the 3 things that must can done and then I fill in the pages from there – this simple act of priority setting is really helpful for me as I plan out my days.

Here’s how I fill it out:

Notice that there are two columns in the TODAY section – I separate those for home + work but you could divide by AM and PM or by person or any other way that works for you.

This daily planner simplifies my days instead of complicating them AND helps me be more productive. Its simple, undated format is a welcome change with a dose of grace for the daily to-dos.

Look at that beautiful AQUA back pocket – it’s one of my favorite features!

How to Use a Homekeeping Planner to Keep Track of Home Tasks

A week ago I introduced you to the new Clean Mama Homekeeping Planner.  Your excitement for the product is amazing – I thought that I’d share a little how-to for you as they start to arrive in your homes.

What is the Clean Mama HOMEKEEPING Planner?

A simple, undated planner for keeping track of homekeeping and the everyday.  If you’re looking for a way to take the guesswork out of keeping up with all things home-related, this is a simple solution designed to make your life easier!

Who is the planner for?

Anyone that wants to put pen to paper to remember those homekeeping tasks.  I love seeing what I’ve have accomplished every day and what needs to be put off to the next day.  This format is motivating and relaxing because it helps you get moving on those tasks and soothes those never-ending mental checklists.
  • Maybe you’re thinking…..I’ve never kept track of homekeeping tasks – this seems like overkill.  If you struggle with cleaning and homekeeping, this also might be a great motivator for your success.
  • Or …..I love keeping track of homekeeping – is this enough?  Or maybe you’re a member of Homekeeping Society and wonder if this is the same thing.  Homekeeping Society is much more in-depth and includes monthly focus areas and organizing tasks.  You’ll need to decide what works best for you!

Can I use this with another planner?

  • Yes!  I suggest using it with the *new* Clean Mama DAILY Planner – coming out in the next week or so – sign up in the sidebar so you don’t miss it!  You can also use it with the Clean Mama Menu Planner OR it can be used alone.  The best thing about it is that it can be used any way you want to use it.  The format is simple, easy to use, and UNDATED.  Perfect for honing your planning and not feeling like you are behind or missing something.
  • Or you can use this planner alone as a stand-alone planner.  Keep track of other things in the planner besides homekeeping tasks – there’s room for appointments and special dates and to-dos.

Show me how to use it….

The Homekeeping Planner is intended to be flexible and used in a variety of ways.  You can keep it in your cleaning caddy, on your kitchen counter, with your main planner….

Start by filing in the month and writing down any tasks that you’d like to accomplish for the month – this is your big picture planning space.

Then on the weekly spread, you can put in tasks, reminders and anything else you’d like to complete.  I add my weekly tasks in as well above the daily tasks.

Use the Notes pages at the end of each month to jot down things like organizing goals, DIY cleaning recipes, or anything else HOME-related.

At the back of the planner you’ll find a Cleaning Routine Calendar page with my suggested daily, weekly, and monthly/rotating tasks.  They are explained on this page for your reference. The last page is the Rotating Cleaning Checklist – use this to keep track of your tasks for the year on one page.  It’s so helpful to see tasks all laid out and at a glance.

THE CLEAN MAMA HOMEKEEPING PLANNER details:

  • 2 COLOR OPTIONS: AQUA + PERIWINKLE
  • 108 pages
  • smooth, bright white 70# paper
  • 160# card stock front and back covers with clear protective cover and wire-o binding
  • made in the USA
  • paper size is 5.75” x 8” – size with the binding is 6” x 8″

THE CLEAN MAMA HOMEKEEPING PLANNER includes:

• CLEAR Protective Cover and COVER PAGE
• TITLE PAGE – 3 lines for you to personalize your planner
• 2018 YEAR AT A GLANCE
• 2019 YEAR AT A GLANCE
• 12 – 2 PAGE BLANK CALENDARS – the perfect 2 page monthly calendar complete with a darling to do list on the right side
• 5 WEEKLY DOCKETS for each month (60 total) – Monday-Sunday with my 5 daily tasks penciled in for you each day. This page also includes a small thoughts section for a quote or verse and a tasks + to-dos check list as well
• NOTES PAGE – my favorite mini grid format
• CLEANING ROUTINE CALENDAR – my daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning routine
• ROTATING CLEANING CHECKLIST – my suggested rotating cleaning for the whole year at a glance – January-December
• BACK COVER

There's a Printable for That! Organize Your Life With Printables

When I started making printables well over 10 years ago, they weren’t called printables, they were calendars and forms that I made to organize and simplify the systems I was using and wanted to implement in our home and my art classroom.  Fast forward a few years and thanks to the internet, printables have become a popular tool used for tracking just about anything!

If you haven’t tried a printable, I urge you to try one out (my free printables page lists most of my freebies) so you can see what’s so great about them!   I promise you’ll be singing the praises of the printable for years to come.  I’ve listed some of my favorite printables below – just click on the link to go to the post or product.  (I do have some pre-printed items too, but I love the printable!)

Why I love printables:

  • Organize your thoughts quickly and easily – need to plan a project or a menu?  Put those thoughts on paper and you’re that much closer to getting those ideas accomplished.

Keeping a home clean can be both rewarding and frustrating. Sure, it’s possible to get your home clean, but to keep it that way can be the biggest challenge. Throw in the additions of busy schedules, jobs, kids, chaos and lack of time and it can feel downright defeating many days. Why bother cleaning when it’s only going to be a mess again the next day!

How to Make a Cleaning Planner

How to Make a Cleaning Planner via Clean Mama

If you want to figure out a way to keep your cleaning routine in order, you might want to put together a little cleaning planner – a place to plan your cleaning.  This can be part of your homekeeping binder or notebook or you can create a stand-alone cleaning planner.  If you’ve been working at keeping up with a cleaning routine or just starting out, what’s the best way to keep it that way?  Work with your homekeeping style and find a way to keep track of what you have already done and what needs to be done.  Need a little inspiration and some cuteness to kick your routine in gear?  Put your planner together in a way that makes sense for your home, style, and budget – it might just get you excited enough to follow through this time!

  1. Choose what size you’d like to use – my preference is a standard letter size (8 1/2 x 11),  but this would be great as a smaller planner as well!  (Keep reading for helpful posts on reducing the sizes and printing 2 to a page.)
  2. Once you’ve determined the size you’re going to use, you need decide what sections you need in your planner.   Here are my sections:  cleaning planner, quick cleaning, cleaning checklists, monthly cleaning, cleaning recipes, cleaning remedies

  3. Print.  Print.  Print.  Decide what you’d like in your cleaning planner and print it out.  I used my Everyday Cleaning Planner for this, but you may have cleaning printables that you’d like to use or you might want to use free printables to fill up your planner – here are my freebies. 4. Punch your pages – I used a discbound notebook and a discbound punch, you can also easily use a 3 ring binder and hole punch for this project as well. Hole Punch and Assemble - How to Make a Cleaning Binder via Clean Mama
  5. Put pages in your planner and add any extras you may need – stickers, a plastic envelope, pens….Weekly Cleaning Checklists via Clean Mama
  6. Put your cleaning planner where you’ll use it and USE it!  The beauty of a cleaning planner is that you’ll be able to see what’s been cleaned, when it was cleaned, and keep on top of things a little better.  I love a tidy home, but I don’t love spending a lot of time doing the homekeeping – my system does the trick! How to Make a Cleaning Planner via Clean Mama

How to Combine Your Planner + Homekeeping Binder

Let’s keep things SIMPLE!  Today I’m going to show you how I merged my homekeeping binder and planner into one wonderfully simplified binder.

How to Combine Your Planner and Homekeeping Binder to Simplify Your Life via Clean Mama

This was a pretty simple project with a big outcome.  The whole purpose of a homekeeping binder and a planner is to have a central place to keep your calendar and other important home items.  For me it’s like my brain on paper.  I feel so much better with everything written down – it’s less to remember and I can keep track of important items like home maintenance, bill paying, and my cleaning routine.  A checklist for me is half the battle when it comes to getting things accomplished – they simplify things for me.

If you have a planner and/or a homekeeping binder, consider merging the two to save space, time, and your sanity.  For me, it’s great to have everything streamlined and in one place.

Start by choosing the format you want to use.  You can use a 3 ring binder or a discbound system or a notebook.  I held off on the discbound system for a while because of the cost, but I have to tell you it’s totally worth it (for me).

Choose the Notebook Size and Style that Works for Your Life via Clean Mama

Next, you’ll need to decide on the format size that works for your life.  My personal preference is 8.5×11 for many reasons – I can write in the larger format a little more easily, pages from school or other mailings can just be punched and added to the binder, and I can still take it with me if I need to, but I keep my planner at home in my kitchen or office most of the time.

Use Dividers to Keep Sections Organized via Clean Mama

Add dividers for your sections – you’ll need to determine what sections you want, but here are some ideas to get you started:

  • calendars
  • daily
  • blog
  • business
  • home maintenance
  • fitness
  • money
  • menu
  • kids
  • cleaning

Use Pockets to Keep Accessories Handy via Clean Mama

Add pockets for stickers and other accessories you want to keep handy.  I use these little stickers to make pages and to flag little reminders in my homekeeping planner.

Once you’ve decided on the size and format of your homekeeping planner you need to FILL it!  That’s the fun part (says the girl with the printables business).  Start with a printable planner or calendar first.  Once you have that in place add to your categories.  This doesn’t have to happen overnight or in an afternoon, but as you add checklists and to do lists I’m guessing you’ll find that it’s a huge time saver and organizational tool and you’ll continue adding to it.  For me, the calendar, cleaning, and bill pay sections are the most important and helpful for tracking items during the month.  The Streamlined Life Bill Pay Kit is an essential and has really helped us with tracking and eliminating debt.  If it’s cute and functional, I’ll use it – if you’re the same, you’ll love the kit!

Here’s how a little infographic on how I filled up my homekeeping planner (I used printables from my shop and The Streamlined Life Complete Kit):

Update:  I give away a FREE cleaning and organizing calendar every month – look in the sidebar or previous posts to find this month’s calendar.   You can start ANYTIME!

(If you like this calendar style, you’ll love The Streamlined Life Series in my shop!)
