There’s a Printable for That! Organize Your Life With Printables

There's a Printable for That! Organize Your Life With Printables

When I started making printables well over 10 years ago, they weren’t called printables, they were calendars and forms that I made to organize and simplify the systems I was using and wanted to implement in our home and my art classroom.  Fast forward a few years and thanks to the internet, printables have become a popular tool used for tracking just about anything!

Streamlined Life Calendar Close - Up - Clean Mama

If you haven’t tried a printable, I urge you to try one out (my free printables page lists most of my freebies) so you can see what’s so great about them!   I promise you’ll be singing the praises of the printable for years to come.  I’ve listed some of my favorite printables below – just click on the link to go to the post or product.  (I do have some pre-printed items too, but I love the printable!)

Why I love printables:

  • Organize your thoughts quickly and easily – need to plan a project or a menu?  Put those thoughts on paper and you’re that much closer to getting those ideas accomplished.

  • I’m highly motivated by a checklist – quick cleaning step by step?  Sign me up!  If you work well with checklists too, look for printables that motivate you and keep you on task.To Do List Clean Mama
  • Get creative with your assembly – put your printables together in a binder that makes sense for you!

  • Instant download from the comfort of your home!  Personally that’s what I think is so appealing about the printable – if you see something online you can just print that digital download out and start using it.
  • Mess up a page?  Print a new one!  Have you stopped using a planner simply because you stopped keeping up with it and it was frustrating to see what you hadn’t completed or accomplished?  No worries with the trusty printable 🙂
  • Customization has endless possibilities for custom notebooks, planners, and binders – you can create what YOU want and need!

  • Different sizes for just about any project (in my shop I have full and half size pages) but you can also trim printables to make notecards, gift cards, the sky’s the limit!

My favorite way to use printables?
Close-Up Streamlined Weekly Planner via Clean Mama

  • budgeting
  • homekeeping binder – keep information in one easy to reference and use place by making a binder
  • cleaning checklists, spring cleaning
  • menu planning
  • recipe binder
  • lists – easily keep track of gifts, to dos, projects, travel plans, etc.

Here are a couple favorite posts that demonstrate how I use printables on a daily basis:

Clean Mama’s Home Reset – Day 2

Clean Mama's Home Reset Challenge - DAY TWO

Welcome back to Clean Mama’s Home Reset – day 2!  How did you do on day 1?  Ready for day 2?  I am working a day ahead on the daily challenge so I have pictures to post for you, but getting just one extra task a day completed feels great!  Are you ready to take back your home and feel great about it?  This mini-challenge is designed for you (and me) to concentrate on those clutter collecting areas and spaces that tend to get neglected or put off.  We’re completing the Home Reset tasks while continuing on with the Clean Mama Cleaning Routine – this will ensure forward progress and we’ll get ahead at the same time.  Did you print off your FREE printable guide?  If you didn’t, go here first.

Ready?  Let’s get started!

Weekly Task for today:

Every Tuesday is DUSTING DAY – first things first, dust your home.  Work quickly, dusting from top to bottom – set your timer for 15 minutes and see if you can whip through your home in that amount of time.  If you need to add a couple minutes, go ahead and do that if you have the time, but don’t spend much more than 15 or 20 minutes so you have time for the other tasks today.

Daily Tasks for Today:

Every day I complete these 4 simple tasks (go to this post for more explanation) – complete them when it makes sense for you and your schedule – set a timer for 10-15 minutes if you need to, don’t get hung up on these tasks, they get easier as you follow my routine:

  • check floors
  • clean counters
  • clutter
  • laundry

Home Reset Task:

Once your home is quickly dusted and you’ve started a load of laundry or swept under the kitchen table, it’s time tackle today’s task to DECLUTTER THE KITCHEN COUNTERS .  Here are your simple steps:

  • Set a timer for 15-30 minutes (whatever you have) and choose your spot to declutter.  You can choose to completely clear all the kitchen counters to declutter or if you only have a couple minutes, choose the most cluttered spot like your kitchen island or small counter on the way into the kitchen.  Here is my before – not too bad, but the counters need a good washing.
    Clear Counters via Clean Mama
  • Quickly clear the counter(s).
  • Make 4 piles:  keep, toss, relocate, donate.
  • Use warm soapy water and a sponge and wipe down the counters and dry with a clean, dry cloth.  I use this technique for washing the counters – fill a small container (this is a vintage planter) with warm soapy water, scrub with a soft sponge and dry.Wash Counters via Clean Mama
  • Put away any items that were in the keep in the kitchen pile, toss what can be tossed, relocate what can be relocated, and put the donate items in a bin or bag for a trip to your favorite local donation center.
  • Arrange items in a way that makes sense for your family and admire your clean counters!

Clean Mama’s Home Reset – Day 1

Clean Mama's Home Reset Challenge - DAY ONE

I am SO excited to start Clean Mama’s Home Reset with you!  I am working a day ahead on the daily challenge so I have pictures to post for you, but getting just one task completed feels great!

Every Monday is BATHROOMS DAY – first things first, clean the bathroom(s) in your home.  If you are new here and haven’t heard about or seen my 15 minute bathroom speed cleaning routine, go here, follow the tasks, and come back here for the next tasks.

Daily Tasks for Today:

Every day I complete these 4 simple tasks (go to this post for more explanation) – complete them when it makes sense for you and your schedule.  Set a timer for 10-15 minutes if you need to, but don’t get hung up on these tasks, they get easier as you follow my routine:

  • check floors
  • clean counters
  • clutter
  • laundry

Home Reset Task:

Once your bathrooms are thoroughly (and quickly) cleaned and you’ve started a load of laundry or swept under the kitchen table, it’s time tackle today’s task to DECLUTTER TOILETRIES.  Here are your simple steps:

  • Set a timer for 15-30 minutes (whatever you have) and choose your spot to declutter.  This can be a drawer, under the sink, a cupboard, a shelf – choose a space that you know you can completely clear and declutter in the time you have.  Start small, if you get going and want to declutter more, keep going!
Here’s my BEFORE – it took me 30 minutes to completely clear, declutter, and re-organize this space.  I knew ahead of time that I wanted to use larger storage containers to store toiletries so I had the containers on hand.  I had put off doing it for a couple weeks and this challenge is just what I needed to finally sort and declutter the space.
    Toiletries Before via Clean Mama
  • Completely clear and empty the space.  I put everything on the bathroom counter to sort and declutter it.
Remove everything from the space via Clean Mama
  • Spray and wipe clean.
Completely clear space and wipe clean via Clean Mama
  • Decide what you can keep and what you can toss – if it’s expired, toss.  If you haven’t used it in a while or forgot why you have it, toss it.  (Make sure you follow your local recycling rules for what can be recycled.)
Toss Pile and Re-Grouped and Sorted Toiletries via Clean Mama
  • Group like items together to make organizing and finding your toiletries easy. Put items back in a way that makes sense for you and whoever is using the space.  Here’s my AFTER – I have another post soon that goes into a little more detail about how I organized this cabinet, stay tuned.

The Clean Mama Cleaning Routine FREE Printable

The Clean Mama Cleaning Routine Free Printable via Clean Mama

As part of the Simple Summer Challenge, I’m encouraging you to incorporate a couple simple tasks into your routine.  These tasks are my normal cleaning routine, but if you haven’t tried them or followed through, try adding them in this summer and see how it works for you.  I made a cute printable for you today that might make it a little more fun to keep on track with the tasks.

The Clean Mama Cleaning Routine is the routine that I developed years ago (before blogging was a thing) to have a consistently clean home.  Cleaning the whole house on Saturdays after working all week was not working for me.  I had to do something every day and after trying out different configurations and combinations, this simple routine was the one that worked the best in all circumstances.  I’ve used it before kids and working multiple jobs, working with kids and traveling, as a stay-at-home mom, and as a work from home mom with three kids.  With as little as 15 minutes a day, you can make it work for you too.  If you need more help figuring out how to incorporate it into a busy schedule, go to this post.

If you home is in shambles and you don’t know where to start, don’t think you have to get everything in tip-top shape right away.  Break it down into manageable steps.  For instance, on Monday you can try speed cleaning your bathrooms, or alternatively just clean one bathroom really well.  Still too overwhelming?  Set your timer for 10-15 minutes and do what you can in that time frame and do the same thing the next week and the next until you are able to manage your bathrooms all on the same day.  It’s not about perfection!  It’s about ‘everyday a little something’.  Just do that little something every day and you’ll be able to add to it as your house gets whipped into shape.

How about a little freebie to help you get into the routine?  Print, cut in half, put it on your fridge, in your homekeeping binder, on a clipboard, or anywhere you’ll see and use it.  Simply put the month in the top and every day do the tasks and check off the circle – easy, peasy!  If you don’t get to the task, that’s what Fridays are for – catch-all day (a day to catch up)!

May Homekeeping Society - Quote for the Kitchen Sink via Clean Mama

This month’s Quote for the Kitchen Sink is a favorite of mine from Laura Ingalls Wilder.  Don’t you love the design?  It was created by Kristi from one of my favorite shops – Barn Owl Primitives.  Every month includes a special quote and a 5×7 printable you can put at your kitchen sink or on your fridge or in your binder.  (Read on for a coupon code just for Clean Mama readers at the bottom of the post!)

Keeping a home clean can be both rewarding and frustrating. Sure, it’s possible to get your home clean, but to keep it that way can be the biggest challenge. Throw in the additions of busy schedules, jobs, kids, chaos, and lack of time and energy and it can feel downright defeating many days. You’ll love the Clean Mama Cleaning Routine included in every month of Homekeeping Society – it truly takes the guesswork out of cleaning and sets it on auto-pilot.
