DAY 1 – Declutter Jumpstart – Whole House Quick Declutter

Welcome to DAY 1 of the Clutter Challenge!  The Clutter Challenge is a 7 day challenge – I hope you find it doable and helpful as a springboard for getting rid of clutter! This challenge is straight from THE CLUTTER HANDBOOK – you can totally do the challenge without the handbook BUT it will definitely help you get a handle on your clutter. This week (September 9-15) I’ll be sharing 7 tasks designed to give you a decluttering jumpstart. Start with these 7 declutter tasks – they’re designed to get you started quickly and with easily, in a realistic and doable way.

Whole House Quick Declutter:  Start by setting a timer for 10-30 minutes and see how much stuff you can find and get rid of – aim for 3 bags. Toss, donate or sell your findings – this should be stuff you can get out of the house as quickly as possible.  Think trash, things that are where they shouldn’t be and are no longer needed/used.  The more things you can get out of the house today, the better.

I used the toss, donate, sell, and relocate pages included in THE CLUTTER HANDBOOK to make this a little easier.  Each one includes a little prompt to help you decide where your items should go.

Here’s a little more information on THE CLUTTER HANDBOOK:

  2. I’m so, so glad I purchased this handbook. I have too many nice things to say that I’ll be all day. But, I had a jumpstart and finished one room just last night! I’m the type of person who can’t work with a timer, but that’s ok. If you can’t, you can’t and it’s all explained in the handbook. I live in the N.E. so I decided to go and do one room at a time as I also printed out the Fall cleaning checklist and I’m trying to combine both. But I’m getting off track, focus on DE – Cluttering ! That’s the challenge and know that the Handbook will help you emonsolly!
